Beer Tour in Detail:

Why You Will Love This Tour

Our beer tours guide you through the natural and historical beauties of Bavaria and Austria. We show you the culture, the places and the habits of this fantastic region of Europe.

During our tour we will visit Munich, the capital of Bavaria. Then we move up in Franconia discovering the romantic city of Bamberg. Bamberg is a UNESCO listed world heritage gem. We also visit the famous city of Nuremberg.

A jump over the Austrian border will take us to the charming birthplace of Mozart, the small and precious Salzburg. Salzburg is surrounded by a beautiful Lake District and spectacular alpine region. We will also visit baroque abbeys and medieval villages. This is where history and traditions are still alive. In addition, discover the amazing scenery of alpine regions and lake districts.

Beer Tasting Tours

In this part of the world, tradition means brewing. In our beer tours we experience a unique beer tasting experience. We learn about the history of culture of beer in this region.

The art of brewing beer dates back more than a thousand years. While Munich is the city of the Oktoberfest, Bamberg is blessed with nine active breweries. It is difficult to pick which of the two cities is the capital of beer in Germany.

The Salzburg region is certainly the best brewing area in Austria. It has a beer style sometimes different from its Bavarian neighbours. In our beer tours, we meet brewers to discover the traditional brewing process and try their excellent beers.

There is such variety of beer styles in Bavaria and Austria. Due to the variety, it will be almost impossible to drink the same brew twice on our beer tasting tours.

We will also discover how to use this special ingredient during a cooking class with a local brewery chef. Side by side with locals, we enjoy the happy and cosy atmosphere of traditional beer gardens and historical taverns. These become the daily locations for our convivial beer and food moments.

Regional recipes and the experience of creative German chefs are also a beer tour highlight. In addition, so are the Franconian and Austrian wines. Furthermore, the dairy products of alpine farms high in the mountains will complete this experience. A rich and fascinating culinary adventure.

A Taste of The Itinerary

A taste of the itinerary

Day 1

Tour participants arrive at Munich International Airport. From there, we take our free transfer to the hotel in Munich city centre.

We meet with Australia’s top beer educator and writer Matthew Kirkegaard. In addition, we meet Italian beer expert Gianluca D’Alia for a presentation of the beer tour. We follow the presentation with dinner. Finally, we dine in one of the oldest taverns of Munich to further discuss the program and enjoy our first glass of Bavarian gold.

Day 2

After breakfast, during a guided tour we will discover the centre of Munich. We will explore its monuments and gardens. After lunch we will visit the royal palace of the Bavarian kings. Munich is the capital of Bavaria, the richest and largest region of Germany. Beer is the symbol of this city and we will try it in lively beer gardens and traditional brewery inns as part of our beer tasting tours.

Day 3

On this day we will leave Munich to reach the romantic medieval cities of Franconia. This is the upper most region of Bavaria. We will stop in the beautiful city of Nuremberg, the capital of Franconia. Nuremberg is famous for its toys as well as the tragic events of World War 2. On a guided tour we will discover the medieval city centre and its mighty castle.
After lunch we will still have some free time for walking around. This includes visiting one of the very interesting museums of the city. It also allows time for buying the famous Lebkuchen, a traditional cake that is the symbol of Nuremberg.

In the evening we reach the UNESCO world heritage city of Bamberg. Bamberg will surprise you with its beauty and its historical and romantic atmosphere. In Bamberg there are nine working breweries. Furthermore, they all produce excellent beers, each one in its own style. The best-known Bamberger beer is the Rauchbier (smoked beer). During our beer tasting tours we try the different varieties brewed by the local breweries.
Finally, our dinner will be in the legendary Tavern Schlenkerla first opened in 1405.

Day 4

After breakfast, we embark on a guided tour of Bamberg. We visit this fantastic little city and its magnificent monuments. Bamberg is built like Rome on seven hills.

Of course where would our beer tours be without the beer? On top of one of these hills we will drink a Rauchbier in the most beautiful beer garden of the city.

In the free afternoon you will have time to appreciate more of the city. It is full of hidden corners with their ten centuries of history. Our dinner will be in the old and beautiful brewery Greifenklau, one of hidden gems of the city and less known to tourists.
